SUMMARY:NJLTAP – Local Road Safety Plans (In-Person)
DESCRIPTION:Course Description:\nThis course will introduce how to improve safety by developing and implementing an action plan. We will discuss local road safety plans\, an FHWA proven safety countermeasure local agencies can use to identify at-risk locations on their roadways and deploy cost-effective safety solutions. Participants learn how to implement safety improvements targeted at areas that have a history of crashes or exhibit conditions associated with high-crash areas. Participants will learn the steps to develop and implement a Local Road Safety Plan (LRSP) for their community. The Safe System Approach to safety will be introduced. \nLearning Objectives: \n\nGain an understanding of the state Strategic Highway Safety Plan (SHSP)\nLearn about developing local road safety plans (LRSP) for their agencies\nLearn about the implementation\, evaluation\, and updates for LRSP\nIntroduction to FHWA and NHTSA safety countermeasures\n\nIntended Audience:\nIndividuals conducting engineering and traffic studies and those responsible for identifying safety problems and potential solutions including engineers\, public works directors and superintendents. \nPre-Requisites:\nNone \nCredits:\n4 PDH; CPWM 4 Technical Contact Hours \nInstructor:\nPatricia Ott\, PE\, RSP2I\, MBO Engineering\, LLC \nSponsor:\nThis workshop is sponsored by the Federal Highway Administration and New Jersey Department of Transportation through the New Jersey Local Technical Assistance Program.
