SUMMARY:NJDHTS – NJTR-1 Crash Form Refresher (Webinar)
DESCRIPTION:Course Description:\nThis course provides refresher training for law enforcement officials already familiar with the NJTR-1 crash form. Your safety colleagues rely on accurate crash data to create successful\, proactive road safety plans. However\, many of the nearly 300\,000 crash reports NJDOT receives each year contain errors or misinformation–these inaccuracies negatively impact the effectiveness of data-driven crash reduction efforts. As the official recorder of crash scene events\, you can minimize these data deficiencies with the information learned from this training course. \nThis course covers common NJTR-1 errors for both passenger and commercial motor vehicle (CMV) crashes and offers methods to improve crash data quality. SUMMARY:NJLTAP – Guidelines for Guide Rail and Median Barrier Design (In-Person)
DESCRIPTION:Course Description:\nThis 2-day workshop will cover the current design guidelines in Section 8 of the NJDOT Roadway Design Manual for guide rail design and median barriers which will cover the various Baseline Document Changes (BDC) and the revisions to implement AASHTO MASH criteria. The workshop will go through the entire section including clear zone\, warranting obstructions\, guide rail height\, clearance from traveled way\, rubrail\, reduced post spacing at obstructions\, guide rail at structures\, end treatments\, roadside recovery area\, grading treatment\, approach length of need\, guide rail treatments at driveways\, gore areas\, and median guide rail and barriers along with their placement. There will also be several class problems on calculating and graphically solving length of need on the second day of the course.
