SUMMARY:2026 Public Works Expo and Education Program (In-Person)
DESCRIPTION:The New Jersey Chapter of the American Public Works Association (APWA) will be holding its bi-annual public works EXPO and education program on April 22\, 2026 – this is the only New Jersey public works expo in 2026. Vendors include products and services for government representatives\, including safety\, recycling\, traffic signs\, vehicles\, vehicle maintenance\, sanitation\, sewers\, materials handling equipment\, uniforms\, and consultant services. There are also three opportunities to earn CPWM credit. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe vendor expo will be open from 8:00 to 1:30pm. \nThose pre-registered by April 12 will be admitted free of charge. Those not pre-registered may purchase admission tickets at the door for $45.00. \nIf you are looking for information on how to be an exhibitor\, please email apwanj2018@gmail.com\n\nEducation Programing Schedule and Lunch: \n\n8:30am-9:30am\nTitle: Making Sure Pavement Markings and Signage is Compliant\nDescription: This session will help identify the standards/guidelines for the installation of pavement markings\, understand the basic guidelines for sign usage\, and the method of installation\, in accordance with the MUTCD and how to appropriately use the reasons or warrants for proper sign selection.\nSpeaker: George Fallat\, PE\, New Jersey Local Technical Assistance Program\nCredits: 1 Technical Contact Hour\n9:45am-10:45am\nTitle: An Introduction to NJ’s Traffic Incident Management Program\nDescription: This session will provide an overview of Traffic Incident Management (TIM) and the coordinated program institutionalized in New Jersey. Traffic incidents are unplanned roadway events that affect or impede the normal flow of traffic; they increase the likelihood of secondary crashes and pose a threat to the safety of incident responders as well as the traveling public. Incidents affect travel reliability\, commerce\, and transportation system performance. One of the essential responsibilities of transportation and public safety agencies is to ensure the safe and quick clearance of traffic incidents.\nTraffic Incident Management (TIM) consists of a planned and coordinated multi-disciplinary process to detect\, respond to\, and clear traffic incidents so that traffic flow may be restored as safely and quickly as possible. Effective TIM reduces the duration and impacts of traffic incidents; improves the safety of motorists\, crash victims\, and emergency responders; and reduces the frequency of secondary crashes.\nSpeaker: Todd Evans\, Planner\, New Jersey Institute of Technology\nCredits: 1 Management Contact Hour\n11:00am-12:00pm\nTitle: Basic Work Zone Safety for Road Departments\nDescription: This workshop will introduce municipal and county public works and utilities participants to an overview of working safely in the roadway. As new or veteran employees enter or re-enter the public works profession\, they are frequently required to set up short-term work zones or are assigned to long-term projects. There are no allowances for errors when working next to traffic\, so it is important for personnel to have a solid understanding of work zone safety compliance with the national MUTCD standards.\nSpeaker: Gordon Meth\, PE\, Robson Forensic\nCredits: 1 Technical Contact Hour\n12:00pm-1:30pm\nLunch and networking\n\nIntended Audience:\nAnyone involved in public works and engineering services \nPre-Requisites:\nNone \nSponsor:\nThis event is sponsored by the New Jersey Chapter of the American Public Works Association (APWA) and the workshops are sponsored by the Federal Highway Administration and New Jersey Department of Transportation through the New Jersey Local Technical Assistance Program.

SUMMARY:NJDHTS – NJTR-1 Crash Form Refresher (Webinar)
DESCRIPTION:Course Description:\nThis course provides refresher training for law enforcement officials already familiar with the NJTR-1 crash form. Your safety colleagues rely on accurate crash data to create successful\, proactive road safety plans.
